Pour la dernière exposition de la saison, le photographe de mode Pierre Debusschere déploie pour la première fois son travail sur les murs d'une galerie. Code/Buro accueille ainsi une succession de portraits où l'utilisation systématique de clairs-obscurs rappellent à la fois la peinture maniériste et les recoins d'une boîte de nuit. Le mouvement et la musique se voient mystérieusement figés par le regard sombre, et malgré tout enchanteur, de ce jeune photographe.

Voor de laatste expo van het jaar plaatst de modefotograaf Pierre Debusschere voor het eerst zijn werk op de muren van een galerij. Hij stelt ons een aantal portretten in clair-obscuur voor die tegelijk de maniëristische schilderkunst en uithoeken van een discotheek oproepen. De beweging en de muziek dragen bij tot de eerder mysterieuze en sombere blikken van de portretten van deze jonge fotograaf.

At the event of the last exhibition of the season, fashion photographer Pierre Debusschere displays his images on a gallery wall for the first time. Code/Buro presents a series of portraits where the systematic use of the clair-obscur reminds both mannerist painting and the corner of a nightclub. Movement and music are mysteriously frozen by the dark, yet enchanting, gaze of this young artist.

Architecte du vide, Vincent Mauger propose une relecture de l'espace tel que nous le connaissons. A travers ses installations, ses sculptures et ses vidéos, qui déjouent nos lois physiques et en composent de nouvelles, nous prenons soudainement conscience que tout ce qui nous entoure est malléable, voire vivant. Pour sa première exposition belge, le plasticien présentera à Code/Buro une sélection de ses vidéos au caractère fantomatique.

Vincent Mauger is architect van de leegte en herleest voor ons de ruimte. Via zijn installaties, beeldhouwwerken en video's die met de wetten van de zwaartekracht spelen en er nieuwe maken, beseffen we dat alles wat ons omringt kneedbaar is, bijna levend als het ware. Voor zijn eerste expo in België stelt hij in Code/Buro videowerk voor.

Architect of the void, Vincent Mauger offers a reinterpretation of space. Through his installations, sculptures and videos which thwart physical laws to create new ones, we suddenly realize that everything which surround us is malleable or even alive. For his first exhibition in Belgium, the artist presents a series of ghostly videos.

Les champs de l'art actuel sont tels qu'un artiste peut facilement explorer les possibilités de la photographie et finalement se retrouver à travailler le son, tout en respectant ses objectifs premiers. C'est le cas de François Martig qui tente depuis plusieures années de capturer le paysage, de le manipuler, d'en changer sa perception, puis de partager ses relectures avec le public. Le paysage que constitue la gare de la chapelle sera au centre de son installation à Code/Buro et créera une passerelle avec le festival Radiophonic qui diffusera l'intervention sonore de l'artiste.

Een kunstenaar kan binnen de huidige kunstdisciplines vanuit de fotografie een geluidsonderzoek starten, zonder zijn initiële objectieven te verwaarlozen. François Martig gaat zo sinds enkele jaren te werk. Hij tracht het landschap te vatten, te manipuleren, de perceptie ervan te wijzigen om uiteindelijk zijn interventies te delen met het publiek. Zijn installatie voor Code/Buro rond het landschap van het station Brussel-Kapellekerk zal gelinkt worden met het festival Radiophonic door middel van de geluidsinterventies.

The field of contemporary art is so that an artist can easily explore the possibilities of photography and end up working with sound, while focusing on his or her goals. It's the case of François Martig who, since several years, has sought to capture the landscape, to manipulate and change its perception, and to share his reinterpretations with the public. The train station, where Code/Buro is located, will be at the heart of his installation and the artist's sound piece will simultaneously be broadcasted by the Festival Radiophonic.

Laurens G. est facteur à Zurich. Pendant plus de trois ans, il a nourri une étrange fascination pour sa voiture, une Fiat Panda. Il l'a photographiée sous toutes les coutures à chacun de ses déplacements et a ainsi amassé plus de 3000 photos qu?il présente pour la première fois dans son intégralité à Code/Buro. En premier lieu simple archive du banal, la démarche prend cependant par sa démesure une dimension historique, anthropologique et artistique. Un phénomène !

Laurens G is postbode in Zurich. Hij raakte gedurende drie jaar gefascineerd door zijn auto, een Fiat Panda. Hij maakte er meer dan 3000 foto's van, op alle mogelijke settings en verschillende uitstapjes, die hij nu voor het eerst verzameld heeft en tentoonstelt in het atelier van Code. Al lijkt het op het eerste zicht een archief van het banale, toch onthult het proces een historische, antropologische en artistieke dimensie. Een fenomeen!

Laurens G works as a postman in Zurich. For more than 3 years, he developed a strange fascination for his car, a Fiat Panda, which he photographed from every angle during his travels. He accumulated more than 3000 pictures, the entirety of which he presents for the first time at Code/Buro. At first a mere archive of the ordinary, the project acquires through its immoderation a historical, anthropological and artistic dimension. A real phenomenon!

Kimberly Clark est un collectif hollandais fondé par Iris Van Dongen, Ellemieke Schoenmaker et Josepha de Jong. Ce trio de femmes qui a emprunté son nom à la célèbre marque d'appareillage sanitaire provoque et met en avant le nouveau statu désinhibé et conquérant de la gente féminine avec beaucoup d'autodérision. Des performances en talons aiguilles aux installations orgiaques, elles jouent avec les codes de l'art à la manière de gamines qui enfilent les soutiens-gorge et piquent le rouge à lèvre de maman.

Kimberly Clark is een collectief uit Nederland, opgericht door Iris Van Dongen, Ellemieke Schoenmaker en Josepha de Jong. Het vrouwelijk trio, dat hun naam leent aan een beroemd sanitair merk, daagt uit en stelt de nieuwe ongeremde vrouwelijke status met heel veel zelfspot in vraag. Ze stellen ons performances op hoge hakken of orgiastische installaties voor waarbij de kunstcodes worden bespeeld op een -zoals meisjes hun bh's aantrekken of de lippenstift van hun moeders stelen-wijze.

Kimberly Clark is a Rotterdam-based collective founded by Iris Van Dongen, Ellemieke Schoenmaker and Josepha de Jong. This women trio who have borrowed their name from the famous brand of sanitary equipment provoque and put forward the new status of conquering and desinhibited women with autoderision. From performances on high heels to orgiastic installations, these artists play with the art codes like little girls who try on their mother's underwear and lipstick.

Sofia Boubolis nous invite à voyager, à voyager à travers des souvenirs altérés.
Elle nous met face à des peintures représentant des monuments, des jardins luxuriants, des tapisseries ou des tableaux issus d'un hôtel italien en faillite, autant de photos qui semblent avoir été oubliées dans un grenier ou de cartes postales pliées en quatre dans un sac. Un univers baroque auquel s'oppose une technique radicale.

Sofia Boubolis nodigt u uit om te reizen langs vervalste herinneringen. Ze stelt ons schilderijen voor waarop monumenten, weelderige tuinen en tapijten te zien zijn of doeken die in Italiaanse hotels hingen voor ze failliet gingen. Daarnaast zijn er foto's die ergens vergeten op een zolder lagen of geplooid in een tas zaten. Een barokken universum tegenover een radicale techniek.

Fascinés tous deux par le corps, Mathias Nouel et Tatiana Bohm ont pourtant des langages opposés, l'un utilisant la photo, l'autre la sculpture, l'un capturant l'enveloppe, l'autre explorant les viscères. De l'extérieur vers l'intérieur, de l'intérieur vers l'extérieur, un dialogue charnel et spirituel s'installe entre eux et leurs expressions s'unissent pour devenir complémentaires.

Mathias Nouel en Tatiana Bohm zijn beiden gefascineerd door het menselijk lichaam. Ze hanteren hiervoor verschillende media: fotografie en beeldhouwkunst, de ene kijkt naar het omhulsel terwijl de andere geïnteresseerd is in de inwendige organen. Via het externe naar het interne en via het interne naar het externe, installeert er zich een vleselijke en spirituele dialoog die hun fascinaties complementair maakt.

Although they are both fascinated by the body, Mathias Nouel & Tatiana Bohm use opposite languages. One uses photography, the other sculpture; one captures the enveloppe, the other explores the viscera. From the exterior to the interior and vice versa, they develop a carnal and spiritual dialogue in which their respective expressions become complementary.

Le romantisme, l'expressionnisme ou le sensationnalisme (pour ne pas dire le pompier) semblent former le triumvirat de la peinture actuelle. En proposant une peinture urbaine, à la résolution réaliste et empreinte de banalité, JMK se détache du piège déshumanisant de l'art contemporain et devient simplement  témoin de son époque. Dans le cadre de son exposition à Code/Buro JMK emmènera une parcelle du Nouveau Paris sur les murs de la galerie.

De romantiek, het expressionisme of het sensationalisme zijn de heilige drievuldigheid van de hedendaagse schilderkunst. JMK weekt zich los uit de val van de onmenselijke hedendaagse kunst en wil via zijn stedelijke schilderkunst een getuige van zijn tijd zijn. Hij brengt een stukje Nouveau Paris mee voor op de muren van het atelier.

Ils éditent depuis 5 ans des ouvrages sombres qui donnent la part belle aux illustrations et déjouent les règles de la narration. À l’occasion de la sortie de « Chasse au Papillon », une fable contemporaine qui interroge la permanence des sentiments amoureux, Code/Buro invite son auteur, Thomas De Decker, à sortir de ses cases.
